Encouraged by Half-Life: Alyx, Valve is currently working on multiple games, says Gabe Newell

Thank Half-Life: Alyx for Valve's change in tone.

Fans of Half-Life, Portal, or just Valve in general will need to stay tuned for some big announcements that may come in the near future. Co-founder Gabe Newell has stated that the impact of Half-Life: Alyx has lead to the distributor deciding to develop more titles.

“We definitely have games in development that we’re going to be announcing – it’s fun to ship games,” Newell expressed to New Zealand’s TVNZ. “Alyx was great – to be back doing single-player games, that created a lot of momentum inside of the company to do more of that.”

As expected, Newell declined to speak on the possibility of a sequel for Half-Life or Portal, saying he hopes “to continue to not talk about them until they are moot questions.”

The last we’ve heard about possible Valve projects, game designer Robin Walker told GameInformer, earlier last year, that Half Life: Alyx was seen as a “return to this world, not the end of it.” For now, those anticipating an official announcement will certainly have to sit tight, as the developer is well-known for staying tight-lipped on its future.
