Staring today, Monster Hunter: World PC players can control the Witcher’s Geralt in a special mission, with another timed mission coming later this month.
As of today, The Witcher’s crossover event with Monster Hunter: World has officially started on PC. That means you can play as everyone’s favorite grumpy mutant dad to hunt down monsters right now. The event came to console versions of the game back in February, adding a new permanent quest, with a time-limited one the following week. The PC version will behave the same way.
From now on, you can access the quest “Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest” any time you’d like, as long as you’re Rank 16 or higher. You can start the quest by speaking to a new group of Felynes who’ve appeared in Astera, one with an exclamation point above their heads.
There are some fun twists to work within this quest. For one, you’ll be playing solo as Geralt of Rivia. He’s fully voiced by Doug Cockle, who voiced him in The Witcher 3, so he sounds just like the grumbly mercenary you remember. You’ll also be equipped with some of Geralt’s unique powers, such as the fire-blasting Igni sign, and his iconic twin swords.
The quest charges you with hunting down a Leshen, one of The Witcher 3’s creepiest, most dangerous monsters. Along the way, you’ll come across some side optional side quests, and how far you progress in them will unlock different endings for the main quest. Finishing the quest will net you some Witcher-themed gear for your hunter and your Palico.
This quest will stick around in the game from now on, so you’re free to complete it whenever you want. However, you won’t want to sleep on the second part of the event. From May 17-30, you can take on a group quest to defeat the Woodland Spirit, a significantly tougher foe, for materials to make Ciri’s gear.
Monster Hunter: World fans can also look forward to the game’s first expansion, Iceborne, due out this September.
