The product page for Zelda: Link’s Awakening previously stated that the game won’t support cloud saves, but Nintendo recently confirmed that it actually will.
Everyone, take a big sigh of relief. Although it recently looked like the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening would not be supporting cloud saves, it turns out that it actually will.
Until just recently, Nintendo UK’s product listing page for Link’s Awakening stated that the game would not support the cloud save feature with Nintendo Switch Online. For those who may be unaware, subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online service can back up their games’ save data to a cloud, just in case something happens to the save data on their physical Switches. However, for various reasons, some games are not compatible with this cloud save feature, and it looked like Link’s Awakening would be one of them for some reason.
Luckily, this has turned out to be false. Nintendo Life user Quarth recently reached out to Nintendo UK, who were able to confirm that Link’s Awakening will support the cloud save feature and that any message on the product page that stated otherwise was made in error. Nintendo UK’s full statement on the matter is below:
Thank you for contacting the Nintendo UK Customer Support Team regarding your question on “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening”‘s official page.
We are sorry to inform you we are unable to find any mention of the Save Data Cloud not being supported for this software on the page you referred.
On the other hand, upon checking the game’s Features on its ‘Details’ section, we can see the Save Data Cloud listed as one of said features.
This indicates that the software will indeed be compatible for use with the Nintendo Switch Online’s Save Data Cloud, as also indicated on the Nintendo eShop’s page on this same software.
If you have noticed this information being displayed otherwise on any other official pages, please let us know.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will launch on the Switch on Sept. 20.
